Reggie and Roy are two horses who’s home is in Germany. They are cared for by a lovely family and enjoy going for carriage rides through the local forest. These horses are best mates, very smart and determined to open all those gates on their own one day. This painting shows the horses enjoying a brisk winter’s day. It is open every day and a meeting point for the locals who appreciate seriously good coffee and a lovely chat. The building that houses Java Hut was originally a bank in Wakefield and later moved to its current location.
Early Morning at Java Hut is the 6th painting I have been working on of this fabulous little coffee shop in Mapua. The painting shows the local crowd that meets regularly in the early morning to have a coffee before going for a walk along the waterfront. In this case it is winter and the sun hasn't come up yet. Cashmere Bay captures an early morning in May 2024 at Lake Brunner, Moana. It was gorgeous to paint at this beautiful location, overcast, with no wind and only a few black swans swimming past.
