Riwaka Boatsheds

The boat sheds in Riwaka (near Motueka, New Zealand) take you back in time. You can smell the sea, hear the birds, feel the marshland and look at the water reflections. Remnants of wooden boat jetties tell a story of the past and give the place a sense of time.

The painting started out en plein air (outside on location) with some minor adjustments in the studio. It was entirely painted with the palette knife.
